TOUR
First off, we got our records yesterday.
Less than a week after we got back from our little west coast tour. I don't really care that they were late, it's shitty, but I'm glad we have them.
You can pick one up here (There's also an mp3).
Or just wait until we play a show.
I don't really want to go into detail about tour, cause it's probably not that exciting. Maybe one day when I feel like it, I'll spill my guts about all the stupid shit that happened.

FUCK YEAH 420!!
420 has to be one of the stupidest days of the year. Even more stupid than St. Patrick's day or Valentine's day. I have this weird feeling that 420 was created to combat neo-nazis, as 420 doubles as Hitler's b-day. All them neo-nazis getting stoned and forgetting who to hate on, feeling the love. I make way to many 420 jokes around work and friends, only to find out that they take the day quite seriously.
"Oh shit! I'm gonna call in sick on Friday"
For all of you living in Winnipeg who decided to stay home Wednesday night, you missed out. It was probably one of the best/funniest nights ever at the Albert.
The show included the Singletons (poppy punk), Raiden (youngsters hatin'), Red Don (new Observers), and the Clorox Girls (power pop punk).
The two touring bands from Portland - Clorox Girls/Red Dons - kicked some ass.
Red Dons were up first and although having numerous sound problems played a great set. They included 4 or 5 songs off of the Observers full length "What's Left Now?", and a slew of new songs that we're all great. I picked up their 7inch and listened to it around 3 times last night.
The Clorox Girls set was amazing. By this point in the evening everyone was well inebriated and getting rowdy. Idiots kept being "punk" and getting up on stage knocking over mic stands and collapsing on the drum set causing them to stop playing one of my favourite Clorox Girls songs "Virgin Suicide". No one seemed to care though. I don't even want to acknowledge the other things I saw that night.
Thursday night I went and saw "The Host", with Timmy and his two compadres. It was a Korean monster movie to the best of my knowledge. It also meddled with the idea of non-existent diseases/viruses, such as The Sars and the usage of bio-chemical warfare (in the movie a gas called "Agent Yellow" is used).
The monster looked like a big ugly fish, and ate people. I don't know what more to say. The movie was predictable and I was never thrilled nor impressed.

Thursday - Friday
Search + Destroy played a show at the Albert Thursday night with Born Bad, No Fun, and The Quagmire. I kind of swore I'd never go there again after the last show I witnessed, which entailed blood and broken beer bottles. Fortunately Thursday was possibly the first and last show we will ever play there. The Albert found the bands to be disrespectful (what?), Mike the microphone destroyer broke 2 mics, and Ryan crawled into an air vent and got yelled at by some cowboy. All in all the show was a million times better than I had ever expected and now I'm really stoked for our tour.

The night after that I went and saw Grindhouse with Wynston and his sidekick Timmy. We went to the 7 pm showing at the Globe. I like the Globe a lot, because:
A. No one goes there
B. Still has cheap Tuesday ($5)
C. Center isle, so I can put my feets up!
D. Wicked popcorn, and free re-fills
The first of the two films; Planet Terror, was a mild let-down. It reminded me of a high budget Troma film. They attempted to make the entire film look "old" or "worn out" with 2 tons of grain effects. It didn't work out to well considering the film was shot on high grade film. They had a pile of classic clichés though, there were even missing reels in both films right before the sexy parts.
The second film was Death Proof which was fucking amazing. To simply summarize this movie - A rape revenge movie with cars. It built so slowly at one point I turned to Wynston and said: "Is this going anywhere". The best part of this entire film was the chase scenes. When you're watching a chase scene or car explosion in current cinema you're ooooing and awwwwing at the CGI effects. In this film your swearing at the screen because someone could actually fucking beef it! I also love Kurt Russell, Overboard has to be one of my favourite movies of all time.
I was thinking of going to see Grindhouse again, but arriving just in time for the in-between screeners (Thanks Giving was killer) and Death Proof.

Alex Danielson
I've loved the Danielson Famile for quite some time now, I also adore one take videos. This video probably cost a maximum of $2000, and if they shot it in only one take, it only took 3 minutes and 11 seconds to make. This always makes me question my spendings on technology. I'm saving up for a MacPro ($4000), then after that I'm going to start saving for a new Video Camera. It seems ridiculous but I can't stand relying on other people for anything.
Anyways. The Danielson's released a DVD that I spotted last night at Music Trader where I picked up Wire - Pink Flag (heavy 180 pressing) and a new shred sled (skateboard... Suicide Machines graphic, don't ask).
The DVD was somewhere around $38 and even with my staff discount it's still pretty pricey, then of course, on Amazon it's $19.99. I love Amazon, speaking of which, when I ran home for lunch today my most recent package arrived. It contained:
The new Paper Rad book.
The 4 disc Fad Gadget/Frankey Tovey c.d/d.vd.
And my most favourite movie of all time.

Easter Bunny Funny
Friday
I have the whole day off work, this is my first paid holiday at my new job. Perhaps even my first paid holiday ever. So, I try my best to make the most of it.
First off I decide let's hit up the fucking Zoo! Not the bar, but where the animals are. I grab my lady and we go pick up some fellow Zoo goers. For Christmas I bought Sarah a Zoo Two Pass, which enables her and one other lucky boy (me!) to frequent the Zoo as many times as possible for one entire year. We've decided to go every weekend, we're keeping up well so far. On this Zoo visit we finally found Quintin, he's a Takin, a large buffalo/horse/goat/fucking amazing looking dude who was recently publicized in the paper for humping a barrel.
He looks like this.
Later that night I went over to Wynston's place where we played video games, got a pizza, and watched American Hardcore. Pretty bro, if I do say so.
Saturday
I decide it would be a good idea if I go into work and try to make some more hours, as I'll be gone the beginning of May on tour.
There's me and one other lady in the building, I showed up around 11 and de-activated the alarm. I left a message on the white board that I'm in the building and which room I'm in. I'm working away and it's getting close to lunch time (a banana), I step out of my room to return a movie to one of my co-workers when I hear a siren. It sounds really close, and I figure it's just a cop car or ambulance and start to head back to my room. Then I realize that the sound is coming from inside the building. I book to the alarm pad and in walks this lady. "Oh, I thought I was the only person here" she says calmly over the blaring siren. She fumbles with the alarm for a while and then I butt in and fix it. We go over to the phone to wait for CHUBB security to call us, the phone rings she picks it up and says "Hello, bonjour, hello?" and then hangs up decides everything is fine and then leaves. Leaving me to deal with my boss, the guy who runs the joint and calling CHUBB to tell them what's up.
Anyways, I didn't get in any trouble, all is well, and the granola bar I've been carrying around in case of an emergency, turned out to be a Mars bar!
